Oct 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Economic Development will begin distributing seeds for home gardens today under the fourth phase of its Divi Neguma livelihood development programme.
Each package will have seeds of ten vegetable varieties and seed packages are to be distributed among five million families.
In addition to the distribution of seeds, the Ministry has also taken steps to distribute coconut saplings, fruit, herbs and minor export crop plants at village officer area level.
The President will officially launch the fourth stage of the Divi Neguma livelihood development programme on October 25.
Ministry of Economic Development points out that the first phase of the Divi Neguma programme which started in March 2011 with a million families is a massive success.
