Oct 19, Colombo: Sri Lanka's former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka says the executive presidency would have been abolished after the last Presidential election if the victory was not robbed.
Fonseka has told a protest rally in Hyde Park last evening that the executive presidency would have been abolished by now had the victory not been robbed at the last election.
He has re-iterated his commitment to work towards abolishing the executive presidency.
According to Fonseka, a suitable common candidate to contest the next Presidential election needs to be identified soon.
He has observed that the chosen candidate needs to be groomed to be prepared to face a Presidential election that could be called before time.
