* Rs. 500,000 cash award for information on assailant of Sri Lanka's judiciary official
Thu, Oct 18, 2012, 10:27 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka police announced today that a Rs. 500,000 cash award will be offered for correct information leading to the arrest of the suspects over the assault on the secretary of the Judiciary Services Commission (JSC) Manjula Tilakaratne.

Colombo Crimes Division investigating the assault of JSC secretary released a sketch of the suspected assailant to the media last week. However no information has been received yet on the suspect.

The Police urged the public to provide any information regarding the suspect to the nearest Police station or to call the Colombo Crimes Division.

Four unidentified men have assaulted the judge with a revolver on October 7 while he was waiting in the car after dropping his wife and son for sports practice in Mount Lavinia.

The assault took place weeks after the JSC Secretary said that lives of his and his family are threatened due to a statement he issued on September 18 stating that the Judiciary Services Commission has come under interference from the executive.
