Oct 18, Colombo: The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has joined hands with the Dialog mobile telecommunication service provider to launch a SMS news alert service.

The SMS service is provided for disseminating important monetary information to the public.

Subscribers to thes service can receive SMS alerts on number of routine information disseminated by the Central Bank such as Daily Exchange Rates, Sri Lanka Interbank offered rates, details on Treasury bonds and bills, Bank's Monetary Policy announcements, Inflation figures and information about the Bank's open market operations.

Subscribers have to pay Rs. 30 plus taxes per month for the service.
