Oct 17, Galle: Sri Lanka Navy in the early hours of Wednesday arrested another 35 illegal migrants bound for Australia in the seas off the Southern shores.

A Fast Naval Patrol Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command intercepted a multi-day fishing trawler carrying the 35 people in the sea off Gandara area of Southern coast.

The Navy said all arrested persons were Sinhalese who reside in Gandara and Dondra in the south.

They have been escorted to the Galle Harbor to be handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations.
