Oct 16, Polonnaruwa: A Sri Lankan court today remanded a brother of a senior government minister after he surrendered to the police for obstructing duties wildlife officials.
The Polonnaruwa Magistrate Court today remanded Priyantha Sirisena, younger brother of ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary and Minister of Health, Maithripala Sirisena under suspicion of obstructing the duties of Wildlife Department officials.
Priyantha Sirisena surrendered to police this morning following a scuffle with wildlife officials that took place on October 05. He was produced in court and the court remanded him until October 30.
Minister Maithripala Sirisena represents Polonnaruwa district. His family is a powerful political and business family engaged in rice trade and other businesses in the district.
