Oct 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka will host the 6th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba on October 20-21 in Colombo, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.
Friends of Cuba in the Asia Pacific region will meet in Colombo to discuss the UN resolution on the necessity of ending the U.S. blockade against Cuba, vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Alicia Corredera has said.
Some 227 delegates from 22 countries in the region will participate in the forum in Colombo. The opening day of the meeting Saturday, October 20 will coincide with the celebration of Cuba's Culture Day.
The meeting will also commemorate Ernesto Che Guevara few days after the 45th anniversary of his assassination at the site of a tree planted by the communist leader when he visited Sri Lanka in 1959.
