* Heavy rains trap 30 local and foreign visitors in Sri Lanka's wildlife park
Thu, Oct 11, 2012, 12:17 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 10, Polonnaruwa: Around 30 visitors including at least 12 foreign tourists got stranded in a wildlife park in Sri Lanka today due to adverse weather.

Torrential rains that occurred following their entrance to the park have caused floods in some areas and the roads were blocked, sources said.

The area the visitors were stranded is reportedly inaccessible due to floods.

However, the measures are under way to rescue the stranded visitors, the Department of Wildlife says.

Sri Lanka's dry zone is experiencing heavy rains after a prolonged drought that affected people as well as crops and wild life.
