* Student admissions to Sri Lankan universities may be delayed two years - FUTA
Fri, Oct 5, 2012, 09:11 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 05, Colombo: The striking university lecturers in Sri Lanka say the admission of students, who sat for the GCE Advanced Level examination in 2011, to universities would take place in 2013.

The Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) says the 2011 A/Level students would be admitted to universities in 2013 since the cut off marks, university selections and other formalities have to be finalized before admission.

FUTA Vice President, Ven. Dambara Amila Thero has said that while the cut off marks for last year's A/Level have not yet been decided, the last batch in the university also has to graduate before the admission of new students.

He has noted that the admission of 2011 A/Level students would therefore take place in June 2013.

He has explained that the first and second year undergraduates should be passed up a year while the final year undergraduates should to be passed out and it would be next June by the time this process is completed.
