* Sri Lanka police to report Deputy Minister to the speaker

Oct 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka police say that the report regarding the Deputy Minister of Disaster Management Duleep Wijesekara over obstructing the police duties will be handed in to the Speaker of the parliament and to the Inspector General of Police.

The Deputy Minister was caught red handed as he was speeding his vehicle on the Southern expressway exceeding the maximum speed limits.

The Minister who drove the vehicle at the speed of 169 km per hour has rejected to accept the spot fine given to him at the Kottawa exit point.

Instead, the Deputy Minister had thrown Rs. 1500 towards the police officer who issued the spot fine which the police had returned.

The police officials of Gelanigama interchange of Southern Expressway will compile the report.
