Oct 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 16 runs today in the first semi-final match in the ICC Twenty20 championship at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to secure the spot at the final.
After Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat, Pakistan restricted Sri Lanka for 139 for 4. Pakistan's Shahid Afridi took out Sri Lankan skipper and opening batsman Mahela Jayawardena for 42 off 36 balls and Dilshan Tillakaratne scored 35 before he got an lbw from Umar Gul's ball.
In reply Pakistan has lot three quick wickets. Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis scalped Pakistan's Imran Nazir for 20 and Angelo Mathews claimed the wickets of Nasir Jamshed and Kamran Akmal.
Sri Lanka kept Akila Dananjaya away and called Rangana Herath in and Mahela resumed as the captain for today's match. Mahela was named the Man of the Match.
