Oct 04, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government will take every measure to curtail extremist acts of violence, and will not allow extremist groups in Sri Lanka to take undue advantage to create unwanted violence in the country, a government minister assured today.
Referring to the protests against the attacks on Buddhists temples in Bangladesh, Minister of Mass Media and Information Keheliya Rambukwella at the cabinet press briefing today said that the government has received information about certain extremist groups planning to take undue advantage on the Bangladesh situation and the government is closely monitoring the situation to prevent hostilities.
The Minister welcomed the condemnation of violence against Buddhists in Bangladesh by the Muslim Organizations, Muslim Groups and Muslim politicians in Sri Lanka, and the steps taken by the Bangladesh government to curtail the violence.
