Oct 04, Colombo: Sri Lanka police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana said that the police would start a probe over a complaint against South Asian Institute of Medicine in Malabe after studying the complaint.
Police spokesman said that the complaint had been lodged by the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) in writing to the Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka.
GMOA has urged police to probe the criteria followed in establishing the private medical college.
GMOA campaigns against the private medical college since its inception. Sri Lanka Medical Council has also not recognized the institute.
A five member committee of the Ministry of Health has also recommended suspending the recruitment of students to the university due to lack of quality of education provided.
