Oct 03, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court has today rejected bail to the suspects allegedly involved in the clash in the Magazine Prison in January this year.

Colombo Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli has today rejected bail to 57 suspects accused in the riot between inmates and the prison guards on January 26th and ordered to further remand them till October 17th.

Rioting prisoners clashing with the prison guards set fire to several buildings of the Magazine Prison and hurled stones at passing vehicles on the main Base Line Road in Colombo.

The riots injured 5 prison officials and 26 prisoners and caused over Rs. 5 million worth of property damage to the remand prison complex.
