Oct 03, Colombo: Sri Lankan authorities are currently engaged in collecting data about the farmers affected by the drought in the dry zone.
The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has stated that the information is being gathered to provide compensation to them.
However, the Center has noted that many farmers have not yet submitted their information to the DMC officers.
Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has said the DMC officers were gathering information and the best mode to pay compensation to the affected farmers would be decided after gathering all the information.
The Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Trincomalee Districts and some areas in the Kurunegala District were affected by the shortage of water during the paddy cultivation period for the Yala season.
