Oct 03, Colombo: The Chairman of Ceylon Teachers' Union, Joseph Stalin Fernando said that the union would take legal action against granting permanent appointments to a group of acting principals under political and official influence without professional qualifications.
The union pointed out that a group of principals who were given appointments by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday were not qualified for the appointments.
Although some of them have failed the recruitment examination, the interviews followed as they were given additional marks for acting as principals, the union alleged.
Some of them have never sat for a recruitment examination, the union says.
The union also pointed out that the acting principals have been behind a number of incidents that committed disrespect to the Education Department in recent times.
