Nov 01, Colombo: Colombo District Court Wednesday ordered the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) and 39 other members to appear in Court over a case filed against the Bar.
Attorney-at-law Titus Padmasiri and 13 other lawyers have filed a case against the organizers of Nithi Ranga 2012, a concert organized by the BASL.
They have sought an injunction order against the event claiming irregularities in the selection process of artistes participating in the event.
Colombo District Court Judge Amal Ranaraja hearing the case has ordered the BASL President Wijedasa Rajapakse and 39 other BASL members to appear in Court on November 9th when the case is to be taken up for hearing next.
The Nithi Ranga 2012 event is scheduled to be held on November 26th at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.
The petitioners have said that the irregularities in the selection process have created a mess in putting the show together.
