Nov 01, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court has reprimanded the police over the delay in arresting the persons who had assaulted the Secretary of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), Manjula Thilakaratne.
Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate Nirosha Fernando has criticized the police for failing to apprehend Thilakaratne's assailants although the incident had taken place nearly a month ago.
The police have said they were investigating into a car that had been used to transport the attackers.
Attorney Athula Ranagala making submissions on behalf of the Mount Lavinia Lawyers Association has said the police had investigated the JSC Secretary's personal life without working on arresting the assailants.
The case is to be taken up for hearing next on November 14th.
