Nov 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka's inflation as measured by consumer prices in Colombo eased further in October from its 42-month high in July, figures released Wednesday by the Statistics Department of the Central Bank showed.
The inflation as measured by year-on-year percent change decreased to 8.9 percent in October 2012 from 9.1 percent in the previous month.
However, the annual average inflation rate rose to 6.8 percent in October 2012 from 6.5 per cent in September 2012.
In absolute terms the Colombo Consumers' Price Index (CCPI) declined marginally from 165.5 in September to 165.0 in October 2012.
The decline was mainly attributed to the price decreases in the Food category.
