* Sri Lankan President leaves for Cuba on a state visit

Jun 15, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has left for Cuba early Friday on a two day state visit, the President's Office said.

He will be visiting the Caribbean nation from June 15-16 where he will meet with the Cuban leaders to discuss bilateral issues important to the two countries.

During the President's visit a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies of Sri Lanka and Raul Roa Garcia Institute of International Relations of Cuba, the Government Information department said.

The cabinet of ministers has approved the signing of the MoU proposed by the Senior Minister of Human Resources D. E. W. Gunasekera.

The MoU aims to develop academic cooperation through joint research and exchange of information between the two institutions.
