July 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economic Development and the Provincial Ministries of Education have planned to launch a programme to develop 5,000 primary schools country wide in a month's programme.

The programme, named as Child Friendly, is to be launched on August 03 and it will go forward until September 02.

The programme is implemented throughout the school vacation and the infrastructure of these schools like water, sanitation, access, security will be improved during this period.

Primary focus of this programme is on 1,684 schools. The Ministry of Education says that 1,400 schools have been already developed under the programme to develop 5,000 primary schools and 1,000 secondary schools.
