July 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka's ruling party United People's Freedom Alliance has removed three provincial representatives of the party from all their posts for violating the party's constitution and policies.
General Secretary of UPFA, Minister Susil Premajayantha has confirmed that the Chairman of the Dehiovita Pradeshiya Sabha who is contesting the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council election through an independent group has been relieved of all his party duties, local radio Hiru FM reported.
The other two representatives were former UPFA members who had joined the opposition United National Party (UNP).
Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the main constituent party of the UPFA recently cancelled the party membership and posts of four local government representatives who were accused of sexual abuses or other crimes.
