July 20, Mannar: Sri Lanka Navy yesterday has arrested two persons who tried to enter the island illegally in a boat.
Naval troops attached to the North Central Naval Command have arrested two men in the seas off Urumalai in the northwestern coast.
One of the men is reportedly a Muslim businessman from Dehiwala who has gone to India for gem business. He has been arrested by police in India and a court case is pending against him over a monetary deal.
The other person is a resident of Nilaweli area of Trincomalee district in Eastern Province. He has gone to India by sea and has returned in the same way.
The suspects have been handed over to Thalaimannar Police for further investigations. They were to be produced before the Thalaimannar magistrate.
