July 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has decided to slash the prices of key essential consumer goods with effect from midnight Friday (July 13) under a directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa in order to provide relief to the consumers, The Treasury announced today.
Accordingly, the price of a cylinder of Litro and Laugf gas will come down by 150 rupees with effect from midnight today.
In addition Special Commodity Levies on several essential food commodities has also been reduced. These include potatoes, canned fish, dried fish, big onions, sprats and fish.
Import duties of dry fish and fish are reduced by 25 rupees per kilo, canned fish by 35 rupees per kilo, sprats and potatoes by 20 rupees per kilo and B Onion by 10 rupees per kilo.
