July 13, Hambantota: Two more ships carrying over 1,700 vehicles arrived at the Hambantota Magampura Mahinda Rajapaksa port in Sri Lanka Thursday, Sri Lanka Ports Authority said.

These two ships are the sixth and seventh that arrived at the Southern port after the SLPA decided to shift vehicle unloading at the port.

The 220-meter long Grand Neptune of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha company has brought 798 Japanese vehicles for local consumption.

The 168-meter long Glovis Prestige, the Roll-on/roll-off ship, docked in the Hambantota port yesterday carrying 453 vehicles for reshipment and 472 vehicles for the local market.

Both ships, two of the largest vehicle carriers in the world, have docked at the port on the same day.
