July 13, Colombo: Sri Lankan prison authorities at the Magazine prison in Colombo have recovered 32 mobile phones in the possession of LTTE detainees at the prison.
According to the Ministry of Rehabilitation & Prison reforms the officials during a raid conducted yesterday have recovered 5 sophisticated mobile phones amongst the recovered mobile phones.
The officials suspect that the suspects may have used those phones to communicate and maintain contacts with foreign media.
According to the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison reforms the mobile phones had been concealed within the premise of the prison complex.
During the last month's hostage rescue attempt at the Vavuniya Prison in the North, the authorities found 43 mobile phone and some of which were satellite phones.
