July 06, Galle: The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Galle Division, Hector Dharmasiri was interdicted from service today based on charges of abuse of position brought against him in a court case, police said.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption has presented 15 counts relating to fraud and corruption against the DIG to the court.
The DIG is charged with misappropriation of public assets by engaging the services of police personnel for personal use when he was a Senior Superintendent of Police in Matale in 2007.
The senior officer has used four Civil Defence Force officers at the Raththota police station and one police constable at Matale police station to construct a private home for him in Minuwangoda of Gampaha district.
