July 04, Colombo: Sri Lankan authorities have taken steps provide special kits to tourists to the Sigiriya rock fortress to prevent them from being attacked by wasps.
The Central Cultural Fund has reportedly introduced these kits to visitors to Sigiriya to prevent them from wasp attacks.
A series of wasp attacks have been reported from Sigiriya in the past few months resulting in many visitors being admitted to hospital for medical treatment.
Official from the Fund have been quoted in the media saying that the special kits would be given free to the visitors before climbing the Sigiriya rock.
A stock of 1,500 kits has been given to the Sigiriya authorities to be given to tourists.
