July 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath said the party has appointed a nomination committee to select candidates for the three Provincial Councils for which the nominations for polls have been called.

Accordingly, the nomination committee of the JVP comprises party Politburo members Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, Vijitha Herath, K.D. Lal Kantha and Central Committee member Ramalingam Chandrasekhar.

Herath said that the party will select suitable candidates for the Provincial Councils from the districts.

Meanwhile, the JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that the party is not in coalition with the joint opposition aimed at bringing the United National Party (UNP) into power.
