Aug 23, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket Board today announced the men's and women's squads for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 tournament in September in Sri Lanka.
Mahela Jayawardena will lead the Sri Lankan men's team and Angelo Mathews will continue as the vice-captain.
Kumar Sangakkara and Nuwan Kulasekara were included in the 15-man squad subject to their recovery from existing injuries.
SLC picked Akila Dhanajaya, who has shown promise at the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) that is currently underway. Also, Ajantha Mendis, who is back playing at SLPL after sidelined due to back injury from January, has been recalled for the squad.
The 15 member full squad: Mahela Jayawardena, Angelo Mathews, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lahiru Thirimanne, Lasith Malinga, Dilshan Munaweera, Jeevan Mendis, Thisara Perera, Shaminda Eranga, Rangana Herath, Dinesh Chandimal and Akila Dhanajaya.
Women's squad: Shashikala Siriwardena (Captain), Sandamali Dolawatha, Delani Manodara, Chamari Attapatu, Deepika Rasangika, Ishani Lokusuriya, Chamani Seneviratne, Sripali Weerakkody, Udeshika Prabodini, Maduri Samudrika, Inoka Ranaweera, Prasadini Weerakkody, Inoka Galagedara and Nilakshi Silva
Sri Lanka will host the event between September 13 and October 7, 2012 at three locations - Colombo, Pallekele, and Hambanthota, with R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo hosting the finals on Sunday 7 October.
