Aug 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has called on the government to explain the reason for the high occurrence of errors in national level examination papers.
JVP parliamentary group leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake has told parliament that the government has destroyed the credibility of the GCE Advanced Level examination and even destroyed the secrecy of the examination papers.
Explaining to the House that officials from the Examinations Department had sent amendments to some examination papers through fax messages, the MP has pointed out that schools that did not have a fax machine had not received the amendments resulting in the students answering the wrong question.
According to Dissanayake, some amendments have been sent to examination centers just few minutes prior to the collection of examination papers.
The JVP MP called for a government response on the reason for the increase in errors in the GCE Advanced Level examination, the relief that would be provided to the students who have sat for the exam this year and whether the Z-scores would be marked accurately for this year's examination.
