Aug 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Northwestern Province Organization of Foreign Employment Agencies says that they are facing utmost difficulties since the embassies of Middle Eastern countries have restricted issuing visas.
They point out that the Embassy of Kuwait issues only 100 visa per day and of them only 80 for agencies.
The agencies say that the demand for visa for employment in Kuwait is so high that the 80 visas are grabbed within minutes through the online system.
The employment agencies say this has hindered thousands of Sri Lankans migrating for employment in Kuwait and demand the Sri Lanka government to intervene immediately since foreign employment is one of the major pillars of the economy.
According to the Northwestern Province Organization of Foreign Employment Agencies 5,000 eligible workers are waiting at the moment to obtain visa for Kuwait.
