Aug 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau says that 110 new employment agencies were registered so far this year.
However, the Bureau has also taken steps to cancel the licenses of 13 agencies within this period. These agencies have proved to be engaged in frauds and other malpractices.
Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau says that the process of granting licenses to the foreign employment agencies is streamlined and the agencies are monitored regularly.
The Bureau has granted license to 889 agencies island wide.
Remittances from the foreign employees is one of the major pillars of the economy of Sri Lanka and the foreign employment agencies play a pivotal role between the employers and employees.
