Aug 15, Colombo: The Sri Lanka Police have decided to establish special units in the Provinces that are slated to hold elections next month.

The police have said that these special units would be established ahead of the election in several areas in Sabaragamuwa, North Central and Eastern provinces.

The special units are to closely monitor the election campaigns in the respective provinces and other related activities.

The decision to establish these special police units had been made following the increase in the number of complaints received on the violation of election laws.

Meanwhile, the Elections Department has already established election complaints centers in the district secretariats of the three provinces as well.
