Aug 11, Colombo: The Convener of the Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance Ranjan Jayalal said that unknown persons had placed a funeral wreath of flowers in front of his house this morning.
He further said that the CEB employees would not be terrified with such moves and the strike would continue until their demands are granted. He asked for a written pledge from the authorities to end the strike.
Jayalal said that breakdowns have been reported from a number of areas and the CEB had to deploy alternate workers to reinstate power in such areas.
Meanwhile, a CEB spokesman said that no disruption was caused to the power supply due to strike.
However, the CEB imposed power cuts country wide today and will continue tomorrow also due to the breakdown of the Norochcholai coal power plant.
