Aug 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka is currently engaged in building its foreign relations with the international community ahead of its Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on human rights at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva this November.
Sri Lanka is also looking to diversify its interests from being limited to a single-issue country.
One of the strategies adopted by Sri Lanka in the international sphere is to focus attention on other areas apart from human rights.
Post war resettlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction are to be focused on in this respect.
Newly appointed Ambassador to the Sri Lankan Mission in Geneva, Ravinatha Aryasinha is currently meeting with the permanent representatives in Geneva in order to build relations.
Diplomatic sources told ColomboPage that Aryasinha is meeting with representatives from countries that supported and opposed Sri Lanka during the resolution this March.
"He is expected to continue discussions during this month," they said.
