Aug 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Elections Department has released the election code of conduct to all political parties, police and the election monitors.
Additional Elections Commissioner, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake has said the code of conduct was released in order to help conduct a free and fair election.
He has noted that there is an increase in the number of election law violations reported on the upcoming Provincial Council elections.
The Elections Department has recorded 90 complaints related to election law violations from all three provinces.
The highest number of complaints has been reported from the Anuradhapura district in the North Central Province.
It is the first time in the country's history that a code of conduct for elections has been introduced.
