* Civil organization accuses Sri Lankan government of using over 200 public vehicles in election campaigns

Aug 06, Colombo: We Citizens, a collective of civil organizations active in Anuradhapura district says that over 200 vehicles owned by public institutions are used in election campaigning for the North Central Provincial Council.

The Convener of the We Citizens, Priyantha Fernando said that the fleet of vehicles included 75 vehicles of the establishments that come under the North Central Provincial Council and nine double cabs of Road Development Authority. He revealed the numbers of nine vehicles.

The civil society activist further said that 10 vehicles of public firms with garage numbers are also used for election propaganda.

The activists of the We Citizens organization further pointed out that there are instances of using public offices and circuit bungalows etc. too for the propaganda campaigns of the candidates of the ruling party.
