Aug 05, Colombo: Several trade unions in Sri Lanka are to meet tomorrow to decide on the action to be taken against the alleged misuse of Employment Provident Fund (EPF) monies.
A group of 22 trade unions are to meet tomorrow.
Anton Marcus from the Free Trade Zones & General Services Employees Union has said the unions have already expressed their concerns in writing to President Mahinda Rajapaksa over the misuse of EPF monies.
He has observed that the trade unions have decided to resort to union action to protest the issue and to demand immediate state intervention into the matter.
According to Marcus, there are allegations of EPF monies being invested in government's development projects.
He has added that the government should immediately provide details of how the EPF monies have been invested.
