Aug 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has decided to establish regional offices to probe violations of election regulations.

These regional offices will be established in addition to the district offices and they will record complaints lodge by the public over violations of election laws.

The offices will be manned by the officials of the Election Department, police, party representatives and the election monitors.

The offices aim to mediate quickly to resolve the issues linked with the violations of election law.

Such election offices are to be established in Valaichchenai and Kalawanchikudi of Batticaloa district, Akkaraipattu of Ampara district, Kebithigollewa, Kahatagasdigiliya, Kekirawa, Thambuttegama and Galenbindunuweva of Anuradhapura district.
