Aug 01, Colombo: Consumer Affairs Authority of Sri Lanka has conducted a series of raids during the festive seasons in Kandy and Kataragama under the directives of the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs.
Based on the complaints and other information, the Consumer Affairs Authority conducted the raids in the festive cities and the traders were instructed thoroughly to abide with the Consumer Act.
The Authority has initiated legal action against 300 errant traders who violated Consumer Act in the two cities Kandy and Kataragama.
Of the errant business places, 178 were in Kandy city and 122 were in Kataragama town.
World famous Kandy Perahera cultural pageant and the Katharagama multi-cultural religious festival were held this week with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people.
