Aug 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police of Anuradhapura district Mahesh Senaratne to take legal action against the use of vehicles belonged to the public institutions in the propaganda campaigns for the polls in North Central Province.

The Election Commissioner has instructed the police to probe incidents of misuse and arrest the drivers with the vehicles and produce them in court.

The Election Commissioner has sent this directive to the Anuradhapura Senior Superintendent of Police following the complaints he received from civil society organizations.

The Election Commissioner has also directed the police official to submit a report on the actions taken.
