July 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa Tuesday met with the leaders and representatives of trade unions at the Temple Trees to seek their input to formulated the 2013 budget.
President Mahinda Rajapakse chaired the meeting as the Finance Minister to obtain views and suggestions from the representatives of all trade unions in public and private sector on proposed expenses next year.
The trade union representatives have presented their views on increase of salaries of the public and private sector employees, reduction of the prices of essential food items and upliftment of local manufacturers through the 2013 budget.
The trade union representatives while commending the President for the economic development in the country have enlightened the President on the difficulties faced by them in their respective sectors.
Several ministers, Western Province governor Alevi Maulana, Secretary to the Finance and Planning Ministry Dr. P. B. Jayasundera and Governor of Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal were also present.
