Jan 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka's state owned Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) has taken steps to install a solar power system in the Presidents' official residence Temple Trees.
The electricity generation by the solar powered system will commence next week. It is expected to generate five kilowatts.
LECO Chairman Chandana Haputhanthri says that the setting up of the solar power system comes under the state programme of improving the regenerative capacity of power generation of Sri Lanka.
The government has targeted to improve the percentage of regenerative power sources up to 20%.
