Jan 28, Colombo: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka seeking the withdrawal of the controversial 2011 GCE Advanced Level examination results and the release of fresh results.
The petition was filed by the Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) and 16 students who have sat for the A/Level examination last year.
The Examinations Commissioner, Education Minister, University Grants Commission and the founder of the Z-score system, Prof. R.O. Thattil have been named as respondents in the petition.
Trade unions affiliated to the education sector and students have been continuously calling on the government to cancel the controversial A/Level results and release fresh results.
The President also appointed a commission to look in to the mess-up in the examination results, but government has not yet made any decision to issue fresh results.
The government says the mess-up is not in the results , but due to a computer error in the ranking system.
