Jan 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Heath has temporarily suspended the sale and used of a heart drug imported from Pakistan for safety reasons following the reports of recent deaths from a heart drug in Pakistan.

Sri Lanka has suspended the sale and use of Pakistani-manufactured Isosorbide Mononitrate 20 mg drug used for chest pains.

In Pakistan, over 100 patients have died in Lahore after taking a contaminated heart medication, Pakistan health officials have said.

Reportedly all the people who have died were heart patients who had been given the free heart drug at a government-run clinic.
