Jan 27, Colombo: In a measure to reform the prison administration, Sri Lanka Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms has decided to transfer prison officials in every three years.

The Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Chandrasiri Gajadeera said that only the prison officials that excelled in administration would be given an extension for another year.

The Minister today undertook an inspection tour in the Magazine remand prison which was damaged by the prisoners who revolted against the prison administration.

He directed the committee appointed to probe the incident to submit its report immediately.

Prison sources said that the report was to be issued today but delayed until January 31.

Preliminary investigations have shown that two prison officials were behind Tuesday's riots in the main remand prison.
