Jan 27, colombo: Sri Lanka's Commissioner General of Examinations W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara says that the Department of Examination Commissioner has received 147,000 applications for re-correction of results of the 2011 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination.
The number of re-correction applications is unusually excessive and it is close to 50 percent of the number of students that sat for the country's most competitive examination held for selection of students for university entrance.
The Examination Commissioner said that the preliminary preparations for the re-corrections have been arranged.
Ceylon Teachers' Union Chairman Joseph Stalin Fernando recently charged that the figures of applications for re-correction of advanced level examination results issued by the Ministry of Education and the media did not agree.
Results of last year's Advanced Level examination were messed-up following an alleged computer error in the z-score ranking system.
