Jan 27, Colombo: The Motor Traffic Commissioner's Department of Sri Lanka has decided to strictly implement the laws against driving unregistered vehicles with garage numbers.

Commissioner of Motor Traffic, Lalith Dharmapriya said that only imported vehicles that are being driven from the port to the car sales outlets can bear the garage number.

However, police say that certain influential individuals drive the vehicles purchased by them with the garage number without properly registering them.

The Police Traffic Division has reportedly seized several unregistered vehicles in Colombo in the recent past.
