Feb 29, Colombo: The second Asia Energy Security Summit 2012, a Track 2 diplomacy initiative, debating Asian geopolitics, energy and infrastructure security will begin in the Sri Lankan capital city Colombo today with the participation of attendees from 13 countries.
The two-day summit from February 29 - March 01 will be held at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo.
The participants include experts in the field and sub fields of energy of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. Speakers at the summit include energy experts and academicians, policymakers, government officials and industrial stakeholders from all sections of the Energy Domain.
Sri Lanka's Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka will deliver the inaugural address.
The Summit has been organized by Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI) with the assistance of Sri Lanka Ministry of Power and Energy, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Coal in India.
This year, the Summit, under the theme of "Geo-politics, Energy and Infrastructure Security" will conduct in four sessions under key-note address, forums and discussions. It will focus on issues of energy security, energy sources, security of energy infrastructure, geopolitics of energy security and rising energy integration in Asia.
